  SETUP
  -----

     Windows 3.1 Installation
     ------------------------

  (1) Close other applications.

  (2) If you have the disk version, run the "setup.exe" program on the
disk using the Program Manager's "Run" command. The "Run" command
can be found under the Program Manager's "Files" Menu.

If you have downloaded the self-extracting file (bbat31.exe), you
will find "setup.exe" in the directory where the extracted game
      files reside.

  (3) Follow any on-screen directions during setup.

     Windows 95 / Other
     ------------------

Though Black Bat Rummy is a 16-bit program, it installs and runs well
under Windows 95. Follow these directions:

  (1) Close other application.

  (2) Restart Windows 95 (Start Menu -> Shut Down -> Restart the computer).

  (3) If you have the disk version, run the "setup.exe" program on the
disk using the Start Menu's "Run" command.

If you have downloaded the self-extracting file (bbat31.exe), you
will find "setup.exe" in the directory where the extracted game
      files reside.

  (4) Follow any on-screen directions during setup.

I have not tested Black Bat Rummy in OS/2 or other Window's environments,
but I have no reason to believe it will cause any problems there either.

  UNINSTALL
  ---------

        Automatic Uninstall
        -------------------

When Black Bat Rummy is successfully installed, an "Uninstall" Icon
will be created in the same program group as the Black Bat Rummy Icon.
Double-click this icon to remove the game from your system. You may,
during setup, elect to not install icons for the program. If this is
the case, simply run "uninstal.exe" in the directory where Black Bat
  Rummy resides.

Note: If other files have been created in Black Bat Rummy's home
directory, they will not be deleted during the automatic
deinstallation. For example, "blackbat.gid", a file created
by Window's "winhelp.exe" program, must be deleted manually.

        Manual Uninstall
        ----------------

Since Black Bat Rummy does not alter system configuration or ".ini"
files, you can manually remove all program components by:

     (1) deleting the contents of the directory where the program's
         files are located;

     (2) deleting the directory itself;

     (3) deleting the Black Bat group/icons.

        Uninstall Notes
        ---------------

If you have downloaded the self-extracting version of the game, and
have extracted the setup files into a directory on your hard drive,
then those originally extracted files will remain on your system after
following the uninstall procedures described above. The self-extracting
file and the files contained within it must be deleted manually.

  APPLICATION NOTES
  -----------------

Like all game programs involving animation, Black Bat Rummy
likes to have the computer all to itself! To assure smooth animation,
the processor is monopolized during the computer's tile manipulations.
For best results, pause the game before starting other applications.

Under Windows 95, the gameboard may be incorrectly painted if other
windows are layered on top of the game window during the computer's tile
manipulations. To avoid this problem, it is wise to not open/move other
windows over the gameboard while the computer is moving ... this includes
  the help window!

  SHAREWARE IN GENERAL
  --------------------

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details -- some request registration; others require
it. Some specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you
get anything from the simple right to continue using the software
to an updated program with printed manual.

Copyright laws apply to both shareware and commercial software,
and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
of comparable quality. The main difference is in the method of
distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy and
distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
group. For example, some authors require written permission before
a commercial disk vendor may copy their shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or shareware. The shareware system makes
fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
product, you don't pay for it.
